Rev. Jack Austin (1917-1993) first encountered Zuiken Inagaki's (1885-1981) translation of the Tannisho as early as 1949. Following this encounter, Rev. Austin initiated an extensive correspondence with Zuiken which led to letters being sent almost every week on the subject of Jodo Shinshu and Buddhism more generally. Zuiken's responses to Rev. Austin over the years amounted to over three hundred letters.

Ten of Zukin Inagaki's Letters to Jack Austin can be seen @ https://www.nembutsu.info/horai/index.htm

A four-word profile of Jack Austin seen on the above page states only that Jack "worked as bank clerk". There was much more to Jack than that, and to redress this imballance just a little, I can now offer you a PDF copy of a more comprehensive profile of Jack; as a reformat of the article originally published @ https://www.buddhanet.net/e-

In a salvage opperation that I had to unertake following a catastrophic computer crash I came across copies of six letters not included on the original website.
